The Bonnie Babes FoundationWhat is Bonnie Babes all about? The Bonnie Babes Foundation was established in February 1994 by a passionate team of volunteers, and is operated today as a non-profit volunteer based charity. The word ‘Bonnie’ is derived from the meaning of 'happy, healthy babies' which is what Bonnie Babes strives for constantly through their on going medical research. One of the most important roles of the Bonnie Babes Foundation is to help families after the loss of a baby from miscarriage, stillbirth & prematurity. Sadly, over 50,000 babies are lost in Australia each year and one in every twenty babies is born prematurely. The Bonnie Babes Foundation provides a 24 hour, national grief counselling services to Australian families who have lost a baby. The Foundation's trained counsellors provide grief counselling for any member of the family or friends grieving after pregnancy loss including miscarriage, stillbirth, premature-birth loss, genetic termination (forced abortion due to complications), and neonatal death (death shortly after birth).
Huggies continues to be a proud supporter of the Bonnie Babes Foundation and the wonderful work it does. If you require the counselling services of the Foundation, please telephone (03) 9803 1800, fax on (03) 9803 2699 or enquiry@bbf.org.au. Why do Bonnie Babes run fundraising activities? Like most charitable organisation the Bonnie Babes Foundation needs to raise its own funds. All the proceeds they raise go into their vital medical research projects, and their 24 hour, 7 day per week family grief counselling services and toward important medical equipment in hospitals for premature babies. Unfortunately the Bonnie Babes Foundation does not receive government funding and relies on corporate sponsorship and fundraising activity in the community to maintain the services they provide to the community. Pride of the NationThe Bonnie Babes Foundation’s Pride of the Nation, is a lavishly illustrated coffee table book that features our very own Australian children. Children from newborn to 15 years of age are professionally photographed by an accredited photographer, with one of their images guaranteed to be included in the book. The Book is on display each year at Parliament House in Canberra as a record of a generation of Australian children. Children can also win prizes at the end of the year.
